Happy New Year!
Sunday
Sunday morning’s message deals with the question of how we can have a happier 2009. The text is Proverbs 3:13-18.
Sunday evening brother Andy Cain who has surrendered to God’s call will preach his first sermon. Please pray for Andy and be there to support him. Andy’s late Grandfather was a pastor for many years and his Grandmother will be in attendance Sunday evening.
Wednesday
On the first Wednesday of each quarter we will have a Church Council at 6:00 P.M. This meeting is for all ministry leaders or a representative from each ministry. The purpose of these meetings will be to coordinate the church calendar of events. A tutorial on how to access and use our online calendar will be included at this first meeting.
Our regular quarterly business meeting will be at 7:30 this Wednesday. Among other things, we will be voting to approve the 2009 budget.

Praise
The Children’s Choir presented Christmas on Main Street last Sunday evening and were a blessing to all. Thanks to Todd and Andrea Medlin, the children, and their parents for all the work they did to bring us such a wonderful program.
Prayer
Continue to pray for Deborah Dillard, Willie Dawes, J. H. Sanford, Margaret Blackmon, and Jacqueline Hicks.
Sunday
Sunday morning’s message from God’s Word comes from John 3:16 and is titled All Loves Excelling. Sunday evening’s message is from Jude 24-25 and is titled
Giving God His Due.
Wednesday
There will be no service on Wednesday, New year’s Eve.
Business Meeting
A business meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 7th to consider the 2009 budget.
Church Counsel
Also on Wednesday, the 7th, at 6:00 PM all ministry leaders are invited to what will be a quarterly meeting on the first Wednesday of the quarter to coordinate the church calendar. This will allow all ministries to communicate better in regard to upcoming events. A tutorial on how to use the online calendar will be included in this first meeting.

Praise
This past Sunday morning Tim & Cheryl Schilens became our newest members.
Last Sunday evening the FBC Choir presented Joyful and Triumphant. Thanks to Todd and the choir for their stirring performance.
On Monday and Tuesday the FBC Rest Home Ministry delivered Christmas gifts donated by our congregation to the residents of Lees Long Term care and Oak Hill Living Center.
Last night over 60 Christmas carolers went out into our community to share the good news of Christmas in lieu of our regular Wednesday services.
Prayer
Continue to pray for Willie Dawes, J. H. Sanford, Debbie Dillard, and Margaret Blackmon.

Gal. 4:4-5.
Sunday evening from 5:00 PM till 6:15 the youth will be serving soup and sandwiches. Donations for their summer ministries will be accepted.
AWANA meets from 5:30 - 6:30 P.M.
At 6:30 P.M. the FBC Children’s Choir under the direction of Todd & Andrea Medlin present Miracle on Main Street in the Ministry Center. You won’t want to miss this lively Musical Drama.

Praise
Our Children’s Choir directed by Todd and Andrea Medlin presented their Christmas Musical at Crabtree Valley Mall Tuesday evening at 5:00 P.M. A large number of the congregation was there to support the choir. The children did a magnificent job of presenting the message of Christmas in an unfamiliar environment.
Prayer
Debra Dillard had surgery on Monday and is now at home. She anticipates further surgery and treatments to be determined. Continue to remember Willie Dawes as he takes his chemo and radiation treatments. Glenn Spivey is a patient at the VA hospital in Durham.
Saturday
The Young Inspirations meet Saturday at 11:30 A.M. for their monthly meeting.
Sunday
Sunday morning’s message is from Matthew 2:1-23 and is titled The Original GPS.
At 6:30 P.M. the Adult Choir under the direction of Todd Medlin will present the Christmas musical titled Joyful and Triumphant.
Wednesday
This Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. is our Church wide Christmas Caroling Outreach. Three groups will be sent out covering two targeted sub-divisions and our shut-ins. The Bridge Builders are providing gift bags to be distributed to the homes that respond to our singing. Come. Participate. Pray for those we will contact. The Refuge will be open afterwards.

Praise
We all enjoyed the inspiring Chrismon service last Sunday evening. All of the hard work and time given to this project is much appreciated. Special thanks are due to Kaye Wise, the Ladies Fellowship President, Carol Honeycutt who headed up the Chrismon project, and all who helped throughout the year.
Prayer
Continue to remember Willie Dawes who is taking chemo and radiation treatments. Also, Deborah Dillard will be having surgery this coming Monday and needs our prayers.
Saturday
The Endeavors Class will be watching the children of those who wish to get out for some Christmas shopping, etc.from 5:30 P.M. till 9:00 P.M.
Sunday
Sunday morning’s message is titled “The Case for Grace” and is based on Matthew 1:1-17. Sunday evening’s message from Jude 17-23 is titled “Keeping Your Head on Straight in a Crooked World.”
Tuesday
Our Children’s Choir will be presenting their Christmas Musical at Crabtree Valley Mall at 5:00 P.M. Let’s all be there to support the children on Tuesday, if your schedule allows.

Sam Smith’s brother Jack passed away suddenly on yesterday. Services will be tomorrow in Greenville, NC following family visitation from 12:30 - 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Please remember Sam and the family in prayer.

This Wednesday at 7:30 is our annual Thanksgiving Eve Service. The special offering that we usually take will be somewhat different this year. We are asking that you bring a grocery sack or two of canned foods and/or dry goods. These items will be given to local charities to help the less fortunate in our community.

David and Melissa White were blessed with a baby boy yesterday. His name is Kelton. Mother and baby are at Womack Medical Center at Fort Bragg.
Prayer
Ray Bowden is recovering from surgery at UNC Chapel Hill. J. H. Sanford remains at Western Wake. Bob Riordan is recovering at home. Ruth Stephenson is still a rehab patient. Maxine Gardner and Bryant Tyndall are recovering from outpatient surgery at home. Remember all of these folks.
